What does duress mean?
The act of using force, coercion, threats, or psychological pressure, among other things, to get someone to act against their wishes. If a person is acting under duress, they are not acting of their own free will and so may be treated accordingly in court proceedings.
Security Measures:
CSS prioritizes your safety above all else. That’s why we’ve implemented a duress emergency code system. A duress code is a covert emergency code. It is a confidential security measure crafted for addressing critical situations where an individual faces a threat or coercion. This discreet code is specially engineered to quietly activate an alarm, alerting law enforcement to a distressing scenario without potential perpetrators. A duress code, with the designated number 3122, has been established for the Niagara Falls and St. Catharines locations. In the event that you find yourself in a situation requiring its use, input this code just as you would your regular access code.
Example:
You are coming in early in the morning, and someone forces you, or threatens you to deactivate the alarm and let them in. You will do as they say in the case of this emergency, and input the code 3-1-2-2 and disarm. The alarm will silence, however, it will alert law enforcement discreetly.
